Description

Job Description

South London Youth Theatre is looking for an Interim Manager / Youth Theatre Leader to provide overall management and leadership of all of our classes from September to December 2026. The right candidate will have a sound understanding of performing arts training at this local level and will be well equipped to manage the day to day running and delivery of classes in an overseeing role, whilst longstanding SLYT teachers deliver actual classes.
Hours: 6.15-9.45pm on Tuesday evenings (3.5 hours) 3.45-9.15pm on Wednesday evenings (5.5 hours) and 4.45-9.45pm on Thursday evenings (5 hours) a total of 14 hours per week. These hours and the role requirements ensure you are first to arrive and last to depart from our classes, which is a key responsibility.

Renumeration: £20 per hour / £280 per week.

Job Requirements

Experience leading youth classes/workshops. Excellent rapport with young people and parents/carers and natural leadership abilities. Excellent administrative skills and the ability to engage in and to create social media posts.

Enhanced DBS and full paediatric first aid training/certificate, or willingness to attend first aid courses.

Ability to deliver either drama/acting classes for children of all ages, but particularly teenagers or fun and well structured singing classes for Early Years/Junior children would be highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities

- To oversee safe arrival and departure of SLYT students and to support SLYT teachers during delivery of weekly classes.
- To respond to any issue, injury or emergency which may occur during SLYT classes.
- To cover SLYT teachers in a relevant and meaningful way, in the unlikely eventuality of sudden illness or lateness.
- To use time whilst classes are being delivered to provide administrative support, responding to e-mails in order to maximise your time at SLYT.
- To ensure venues and studios are safe and manned at all times.
