Job Description

Japanese Gallery Kensington, a specialist in Japanese art and antiques, is seeking an IT assistant with a passion for Japan and its culture.

There will be a three-month probation period during which we will provide training and review performance on a monthly basis. Upon completing the training to a satisfactory level, you may be offered a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with website development tasks

  • Upload and manage product listings across various online marketplaces

  • Monitor website performance and provide insights into improving site speed and overall user experience

  • Assist with collaborating with external developers or IT service providers when necessary

  • Support team members with IT troubleshooting

  • Assist in managing international shipping operations through various courier services

  • Contribute to UX/UI improvements

  • Document procedures and maintain technical guides to support internal operations and training

Required skills:

  • Basic understanding of Japanese culture

  • Experience with uploading and managing stock on online marketplaces

  • Ability to monitor and report bugs, as well as identify SEO, UI, and UX issues

  • Familiar with website building platforms

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Lightroom

  • Strong IT skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Experience in worldwide shipping using various courier services

Preferred skills:

  • Experienced in maintaining websites built on Magento 2, WordPress, Wix, and other website-building platforms

  • Proficient in HTML and CSS, with intermediate knowledge of PHP and JavaScript

  • Familiar with MySQL/MariaDB

  • Confident using terminal commands for server management, version control, and development workflows

  • Skilled in wireframing and prototyping using Figma or similar platforms

  • Strong understanding of website structure, user experience, and front-end development best practices
