Job Summary

The British Academy of Jewellery is looking for a knowledgeable tutor to join their prestigious team of Diploma staff, teaching across jewellery manufacturer, CAD and design.

Job Description

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

  • Deliver jewellery manufacturing, Rhino CAD, and design modules to Diploma learners.

  • Provide structured lessons, feedback, and guidance to ensure high learner success rates.

  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and complete learner assessments within set deadlines.

  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, and maintain accurate records while offering support.

  • Manage course-related responsibilities, including admissions and learner interviews.

  • Ensure teaching, delivery, and assessment meet awarding body and Academy standards.

  • Uphold learner compliance with Academy policies via the VLE (Canvas).

Behaviour and Safety

  • Promote health and safety by inducting learners and demonstrating correct equipment use.

  • Stay updated on Safeguarding, Prevent, and related declarations.

  • Ensure equality, diversity, and a safe, inclusive learning environment.

  • Model professional values, behaviour, and safety standards.

Professional Development

  • Mentor colleagues, encouraging collaboration and teamwork.

  • Attend standardisation meetings and training to maintain teaching quality.

  • Keep subject expertise current with industrial and technological developments.

  • Engage in regular training for ongoing professional development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Jewellery Manufacture qualification.

  • Teaching/assessing qualifications (or willingness to work towards).

  • Awareness of FE regulatory and quality standards.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience teaching jewellery manufacturing and 2D design; Rhino CAD desirable.

  • Teamwork skills; ideally a practising jeweller with industry links.

  • Innovative approach to teaching and inclusivity; strong organisational skills.

  • Ability to prioritise, manage resources effectively, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and adaptability to enhance student experience.
