We are looking for someone who has 10+ years of experience in producing visual/ interdisciplinary arts in Yorkshire.

Job Description

Hours: up to6 hours per week at £32 per hour. September - January 2026. The contract may be continued, subject to review.

Location: This job relies on one in-person meeting a week when you first start. The job can be done remotely at times, but L prefers in-person meetings in Halifax/Calderdale.

Work days: L works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only.

Purpose of the Job

L is an interdisciplinary artist based in the Calder Valley at a transitional point in their career where health challenges have forced a major change in working practices. The Job Aide will act as development producer for L, offering mentoring support to help develop L's career, look for and suggest opportunities, and shape L's practice that responds to L's health needs.

We are looking for someone who has 10+ years of experience in producing visual/ interdisciplinary arts in Yorkshire. You will have a connection to and interest in the arts sector and arts processes. E.g., Arts opportunities, organisations, galleries and funding. You will need to demonstrate a high level of understanding of funding opportunities, applications, and artists & careers.

You should have a good understanding of access supports, as well as the barriers that affect artists with access needs. This role is a job share with another Job Aide in a similar role.

Producing and management

  • Hold a strategic and creative overview of L's projects/workload
  • Lead evaluation meetings to review and suggest options for L's creative practice with the team and provide realistic future options
  • Lead applications for new projects and funding/raising
  • Lead on researching and scoping advertised artistic opportunities
  • Write copy for multiple uses E.g. Web, artistic statements, captions and applications

Job Requirements

Artistic development:

  • Creating a strategic plan to help L re-shape her career to suit her health and access needs.
  • Connect L to external organisations who may help further her career and opportunities, or be the representative of L.
  • Work with other Job Aides to constantly reflect, review and adjust working styles to help improve systems in place to support L's practice.

In the Job Share, you will:

  • Share management and oversight of project finances
  • Share calendar management and coordination with team members
  • Advocate, communicate and act on L's behalf when it's right to do so, encouraging autonomy whenever possible
  • Make phone calls on L's behalf where needed
  • Ask questions of L and the wider support team that support L's creative wellbeing re: processes, task prioritisation, practices, rhythms and care
  • Being available for communication within agreed hours/days
  • Prompting/tracking as needed (e.g., calendar, pacing, resting, eating)
  • Contribution to the maintenance of the shar

Job Responsibilities

Payment and fees

You will be paid through Access to Work scheme and this will be set up and run by one of the Job Aids in the team. Payments are put into the system once a month, and it can take 4-8 weeks for your payment to be made from Access to Work / DWP.

Holidays

All holidays need to be discussed with the team and put in writing with at least 1 months' notice for cover to be planned.

Breaks: 1x 20-minute break for every 6 hours of work which is paid.

Notice period:

We ask that you give 2 month's written notice. You may be asked to assist in advertising and helping recruit any replacements, with a handover of a minimum of 10 hours over the 2 month period.
