MAKE. BELIEVE. is a two-year ACE funded programme of creative activity led by The Turnpike Gallery, designed to reach new audiences, address inequalities in our community and co-create new artworks in Wigan & Leigh. Taking a cue from the Turnpike Print Collection which includes works by artists David Hockney and Patrick Caulfield, we will share different printmaking methods and innovative techniques to encourage people's creativity through a touring workshop programme in community venues across Wigan borough. Number of roles available: 2 (Lead Print Facilitator and Assistant Print Facilitator) Contact: Freelance Person Spec: Lead Print Facilitator We are looking for an artist who is fluent in different kinds of printmaking and has demonstrable experience working with communities from a range of backgrounds. You must be comfortable delivering workshops on the go in community spaces for participants with a range of different needs, and confident delivering print workshops at large and small events and adapting to community venues with varying levels of facilities. The artist will be supported by an early career Assistant Facilitator and will be expected to mentor and guide them as they develop their skills and experience. Person Spec: Assistant Print Facilitator We are looking for an artist with an interest in print and with some prior printing experience, who is interested in working with lots of different community groups and could benefit from working closely with a more experienced printmaker. Job Description
Reporting to: The Turnpike Gallery Team
Location: Various locations across Wigan & Leigh
Contract length: May 25 - April 2026. Workshop dates and schedule will be agreed in advance with the successful candidates. This may include some evening and weekend work to align with community group timings.
Fee:
Lead print facilitator: £4800 to cover approximately 27 x half day workshops plus 5 half days prep
Assistant print facilitator: £3200 to cover approximately 27 x half day workshops plus 5 half days prep
These are workshop delivery focused roles and key members of our Make. Believe. project team. You will be working with diverse audiences across the borough, using your facilitation skills to bring printmaking to life. Part of the goal of this project is to enable underserved communities to take part in creative activities by bringing workshops to venues on their doorsteps.Job Requirements
