Description

Job Summary

We are a small London workshop; restoring, wiring and fabricating lighting.

Job Description

We provide a bespoke service for artists, interior designers and antique dealers.

We work with a long list of different materials but mainly fabricate in brass.

The work is not repetitive, the items we work on are unique and valuable.

The successful candidate must be a creative problem solver; skillful, observant, methodical, logical, careful and highly adaptable in their approach. It is not suitable for somebody looking to do a mindless job. You must relish a challenge and ensure all work undertaken is based on an informed understanding of materials and techniques in order to ensure the best possible outcome.

This role requires a blend of artistic sensibility and technical expertise, as you will be working with various materials and techniques to restore and adapt vintage and contemporary luminaires.

Ideally a 4 day week or full time. Salary based on relevant experience.

The position will remain open until we find the right person to join the team, do not wait until the closing date to apply!

  • Proven experience in lighting restoration or a related field is highly desirable. As this is a niche profession, training will be given in all areas. I am looking for candidates with transferable skills.

  • Solid level of experience using workshop hand tools is a prerequisite. Please expand on your relevant skill level and experience.
  • Good manual dexterity and the ability to handle delicate, fiddly components.
  • Working memory needed to ensure the accurate disassembly and reassembly of luminaires while also ensuring improvements are made and problems are dealt with.
  • A genuine passion for historical preservation and craftsmanship.
