Black Country Living Museum is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our team of Historic Characters.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role overseeing the teams who bring the past to life for our visitors. You'll be at the heart of our themed events and day to day visitor experience - creating truly memorable, engaging, educational and entertaining experiences.
- Managing and deploying our team of Historic Characters (alongside and through our team managers).
- Overseeing the delivery of Living History at the Museum, ensuring events and programmes are engaging, inclusive and accessible for all audiences.
- Developing and implementing quality standards, processes and training that ensure high standards of customer service and engagement of Historic Characters.
- Developing processes and systems that support efficient and effective management, training and continuous improvement of the Living History Team.
- Working closely with our Public Programmes and Collections & Interpretation teams to create engaging, educational and entertaining live historical interpretations.
- Working with our Audience & Communications team to ensure integrated and well-coordinated marketing
- Considerable experience of managing, inspiring and developing a large team.
- Experience managing large-scale operations, including effective staff rostering, visitor experience and safety.
- Experience of engaging visitors with stories, living history or dramatic interpretation in a historic context.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet multiple demands and deadlines and improve systems for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Excellent project and budget management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams with excellent interpersonal skills.
