Job Summary

The support facilitator will support the lead facilitator in running one hour drama sessions for children with Long Covid. They will also lead on a couple of 5minute 'active rest' breaks per session to support participants health using chair yoga, qigong, gentle movement etc.

Job Description

The Project:

Long Covid Superheroes is Alchemise Theatre's (website in progress) first project, funded by the Arts Council. It is a theatre and comics project for young people with Long Covid aged 8-14yrs, run by people with Long Covid. Participants will be invited to create their own superhero alter-ego, design a costume for them with a professional costumer, and collectively create a story using drama tools that will be turned into a comic book by a professional illustrator. The project will end with a fashion show and comic book launch, and those well enough may be able to act out some scenes.

The Role:

Your role will be to support the lead facilitator and the young people in the workshops. You may have creative, pastoral and administrative tasks. You will also be asked to lead the seated yoga&movement 'active rest breaks'. These will need to be designed specifically for young people who have Long Covid with an understanding of their limitations; many of them will be mostly bedbound and housebound.

Details:

2x 1hour sessions a week for 30 weeks over the course of a year

We will run two separate groups to cater for those who cannot leave the house; one online, and one in person

Your fee will be £60 a session (with an additional £60 access recovery fee for those who are also chronically ill/disabled. We can only offer the recovery fee to those described as it features as part of our access budget from Arts Council. We will accept applications from those who are not chronically ill/disabled)

In person workshops will take place in South East London
