Description

Job Summary

Since 1920, the Leach Pottery in St Ives, has been a centre of creative exchange, learning and collaboration across cultures and between makers. Make with Leach is an engagement programme to engage participants through making with clay.

Job Description

This new, 3 year, fixed term role of Make with Leach Coordinator: Adults will work with the Learning & Participation Manager and the Make with Leach Coordinator: Schools & Families to successfully support and deliver the Make with Leach programme.

The programme, which takes inspiration from the processes, ethos and legacy of the Leach Pottery will engage local families, community groups and neighbours of the Leach Pottery through creative workshops both at the Leach Pottery and offsite. Methods of co-production, skill sharing, museum interpretation will be employed to create a body of work to be celebrated by participants. While both Make with Leach Coordinators support also aspects of the programme, the Make with Leach Coordinator: Adults will have key responsibilities for the adult and young people engagements on the community programme. In the context of the Make with Leach programme, 'young people' are defined as being 18-25 years old.

Job Requirements

This role requires regular evening and weekend working. This will be agreed in advance by negotiation with your line manager and TOIL (time off in lieu) will be granted for any overtime worked.

Activities will need to be delivered both at the Leach Pottery and at community venues (within approx. 20 mile radius) so you must be willing to travel off-site to undertake some of the work. The post holder must have a clean driver's license and car.

You will have…

Essential

  • Experience of designing and leading creative activities for groups of people, ideally adults
  • Experience working with people who have additional needs and knowledge of how to address barriers experienced by some audiences.
  • At least a basic understanding of hand-building methods and firing requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and be equally comfortable talking to groups and individuals
  • Good administrative skills.
