We’re looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager with lots of drive to roll-out our rebrand and new website and deliver campaigns to promote a-n.

As Marketing and Communications Manager you'll help shape and deliver our marketing and communications functions in line with our new strategic plan, brand strategy and content guidelines. 2026 is a defining year for a-n - we're going-live with a new identity and website and introducing new member benefits. It's an exciting time to join us and shout about everything a-n offers for artists.

Contract: Fixed term position, maternity cover, full time (initial contract 12 months with possible extension to 15 months)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £32,016 to £44,081
Location: Hybrid with travel to Newcastle upon Tyne or London

Job Requirements

About you:

  • A collaborative and proactive leader - You bring people with you. You're a clear communicator who works well across teams and finds practical solutions in a busy environment.
  • Creative - You're comfortable thinking imaginatively. You brief ideas clearly and know how to shape messages and visual content for different audiences and channels.
  • Strategic and analytical - You use insight and data to inform decisions, test what works and continually improve activity.
  • Highly organised and delivery-focused - You have hands-on experience of marketing and communications strategy, campaign planning and evaluation. You can manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities with confidence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build brand awareness - You'll lead the delivery of our brand strategy, ensuring a clear, consistent and engaging experience across all channels, platforms and touchpoints.
  • Create engaging content - You'll lead the delivery of our content strategy, overseeing the planning, creation and distribution of digital and offline content that connects with artists and wider audiences.
  • Promote our work and grow our community - You'll plan and deliver marketing campaigns that highlight the value of a-n membership and our advocacy for artists, supporting membership retention and growth.
  • Use insights to improve what we do - You'll monitor digital performance and analyse audience reach, engagement and behaviour to refine strategies and improve impact through data-led decisions.
  • Collaborate and lead with influence - Working closely with colleagues, designers and freelance specialists, you'll embed new guidelines and processes, encourage best practice and help grow a positive working culture.
