The National Videogame Museum is looking for a dynamic and creative individual with experience in marketing and communications to help us engage new audiences, raise visibility and generate footfall and income.

Department: Visitor Experience

Accountable to: Director of Visitor Experience

Responsible for: Freelancers and relevant third parties

Salary: £31,200 (£26,000 pro-rata)

Hours: 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week)

Usual Working Pattern: Flexible and Hybrid. Occasional evening or weekend cover (to suit business need)

Contract: Permanent (6 month probation period)

Job Requirements

Includes -

Knowledge: multichannel marketing campaign creation; Mailchimp or similar; WordPress and SEO; social media automation tools and techniques; Canva or Adobe Creative Suite design software; Google/Meta marketing systems including AdWords; live streaming.

Experience: marketing including Google AdWords and Facebook; communications including press release generation and media interviews; audience segmentation and targeting using a CRM system; building email lists and creating email marketing and sales campaigns; social media content creation including video streaming; briefing and contracting third parties.

Skills: design using Canva; excellent communications skills; high level of literacy; autonomy; writing effective and engaging copy for websites, newsletters and press; creative problem solving and adaptiveness; working within a creative team or industry; multi-tasking under pressure; delivery within deadlines; responsibility, reliability and self-motivation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the NVM's Marketing and Communications Strategy
  • Engage and develop new and current audiences, ensuring that messaging is relevant and accurate, and making sure all of the NVM's activity is appropriately represented
  • Design, implement, monitor and evaluate campaigns to drive footfall and income, including box office, schools, retail and events
  • Manage and grow all NVM's public channels including website, email lists, advertising, social media, print and PR
  • Develop the NVM's understanding of and ability to serve its audiences, stakeholders and communities
  • Promote the NVM's brand and build its reputation locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
