Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced all-round marketer to join our team at The World of Glass in St Helens. This is a key role that will help us connect with more people, raise awareness of our work, attract more visitors to our events and help to develop and market new commercial endeavours.

Job Description

The World of Glass received significant funding in 2023 to refurbish its main galleries. This investment has created a hugely engaging interactive space and has boosted visitor numbers from 50K to over 90K in 2024.

The World of Glass has an opportunity to target these increased visitors by supplying high quality and targeted shopping and food experiences, bespoke glass workshops and demonstrations and events and activities that create an increased income stream.

Whilst making the most of this current investment and increased visitor numbers, the World of Glass has an exciting opportunity to aim for in 2026. https://www.glassart.org/ - The Glass Art Society (GAS), has invited The World of Glass to partner with them to deliver the International Festival of Glass and the British Glass Biennale in 2026, bringing in 10K visitors over a single week to St Helens from across the globe.

These opportunities will help to secure the future of the World of Glass, improving on the infrastructure, significantly raising our profile within the art sector, Liverpool City Region, and nationally, as well as securing much needed income.

We are looking for someone who will work as part of our busy operational team. You will support us to raise the profile of the museum and help us to promote commercial opportunities and increase visitor numbers.

We want someone who can deliver creative and innovative communications and marketing materials to meet the needs of both visitors and stakeholders.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role you would need to have:

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills for dealing with a wide variety of people and working with diverse communities.
  • Ability to demonstrate ideas to help increase visitor engagement and attract new visitors, including ideas that will create new opportunities for income generation
  • Excellent team working skills, and ability to use own initiative.
  • Marketing and design experience including digital marketing expertise, social media experience and a working knowledge of Canva (or equivalent) and ability to learn quickly on other packages
  • Content creation experience including both graphics skills and textual content.

Job Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Create, schedule and post content on various social media platforms.
  • Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments and messages.
  • Track social media metrics and report on performance.

Content Creation

  • Write and edit blog posts, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Develop creative content for website, email campaigns and social media.
  • Design promotional materials (e.g., flyers, posters) using design software or templates.
  • Support the development and content creation for commercial brochures/packages for rental of event space and glass blowing opportunities.

Marketing Campaigns

  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Support market research initiatives to identify audience trends and preferences.
  • Track and analyse campaign results to evaluate effectiveness.

Public Relations

  • Support media relations efforts, including drafting press releases and pitch emails.
  • Coordinate event promotion and logistics for online and in-person events.
