Each summer, Buxton comes alive with the sights and sounds of the Buxton International Festival. Set in the heart of the Peak District, the Festival brings together world-class opera, music, books, and jazz for two unforgettable weeks of creativity and culture.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of Buxton International Festival's marketing activity. You'll help to ensure our communications are accurate, engaging, and informed by audience insight. The role includes leading on newsletters, managing and analysing audience data, assisting with day-to-day marketing tasks, and supporting both digital and print campaigns. It's a great opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, a good understanding of arts audiences, and a mix of organisational, analytical, and creative skills.
Hours: Part-time (21 hours per week, with some evening and weekend work during the Festival)
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who's organised, creative, and loves being part of a busy arts environment. You'll have a natural flair for communication and an eye for detail, with the confidence to take ownership of your work and contribute ideas to a small, collaborative team.

- Someone with marketing experience, ideally in the arts or cultural sector, or a genuine personal passion for the arts.
- A data-driven mindset with experience managing CRM systems (ThankQ experience a bonus).
- Confident with analytics, reporting, and performance tracking.
- A clear and engaging writer with excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
- Experience creating e-newsletters (Mailchimp or similar).
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress) and design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Canva).
- Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Email Marketing:
- Lead on the creation, design, and delivery of e-newsletters and email marketing campaigns through Mailchimp.
- Monitor performance metrics (open rates, click-throughs, conversions) to continually improve engagement and build strategy.
- Maintain and segment mailing lists to ensure communications are well-targeted and relevant.
- Set up automation flows such as welcome sequences, event reminders, and audience re-engagement campaigns.
- Marketing Support:
- Assist with day-to-day marketing activity including campaign scheduling, website updates, and social media coordination.
- Support print and digital campaign rollouts, ensuring brand consistency and accuracy.
- Liaise with external suppliers, designers, and partners when needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing Manager to deliver effective campaigns across all festival strands (Opera, Books, Music, and Jazz).
