Description

Job Summary

We’re looking for a creative, organised and audience-focused person to join our small team at The Ultimate Picture Palace – Oxford’s only independent community-owned cinema. This is a hands-on role leading our marketing and communications, with plenty of variety and space to shape the strategy.

Job Description

Marketing & Communications Manager (Part-time)
£28,000-£30,000 pro rata | 20 hours a week | Oxford / Hybrid

We're looking for a creative and organised Marketing & Communications Manager to help grow and deepen our audiences, raise awareness of the UPP, and drive engagement across all our communications channels.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for planning and delivering campaigns, managing our digital and in-venue channels, overseeing press and PR, and creating content that reflects the energy and values of our community cinema.

You'll be part of a small management team, collaborating with the Head of Programming and Partnerships and Executive Director to deliver joined-up audience development activity and support key business priorities including fundraising, hires, and events. This role would suit someone with experience in arts, film exhibition, or charity marketing, who enjoys combining creative content development with contributing to the strategic direction of an independent, community business.

Application deadline: Sunday 27 July 2025

Job Requirements

We're looking for someone who brings both creativity and clear-headed strategy to their marketing work. You'll have experience running successful campaigns, be confident with digital tools, and know how to write and create content that connects with different audiences.

You'll be comfortable managing a website, planning social media, and using data to shape your approach. You'll also be organised, collaborative, and happy getting stuck into the day-to-day as part of a small team. Experience in the arts, charity or film sectors would be great - as would any familiarity with design tools, CRM systems, or the local Oxford scene. Most importantly, you'll care about what we do and share our belief in the power of community cinema.

Job Responsibilities

We're looking for someone to take the lead on all things marketing at The UPP.

You'll shape and deliver our marketing strategy across film programming, events, hires, and fundraising - always with an eye on growing and deepening our audience. The role involves planning and delivering campaigns, creating content for our website, emails and social media, and overseeing the production of print materials. You'll help ensure our brand feels consistent and welcoming across all channels, and that our messaging reflects the values of our community cinema. You'll also use box office insights to inform your approach, manage press activity, and support key projects like fundraising and partnership development.
