Part-time (24 hours per week, 3 days) Marketing & Communications Officer to promote Manchester Histories and the This Is Us: Tracing Manchester’s Histories project through digital marketing, social media and community-focused communications.

Job Description

This is a part-time role, 24 hours per week (3 days), fixed term for two years from the start date.

Manchester Histories is recruiting a part-time Marketing & Communications Officer to support our work and the This Is Us: Tracing Manchester's Histories project.

You will help to raise awareness of Manchester Histories, promote project activities and share underrepresented stories from across Greater Manchester. Working closely with our small team and partners, you will plan and deliver digital communications, including social media, email campaigns and website content, and ensure that all communications are accessible, inclusive and clear.
Key aspects of the role include:
developing and scheduling social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
creating copy and images for e-newsletters, web pages and print materials
supporting the recruitment and engagement of community participants and volunteers
liaising with partners and community organisations to share opportunities and project news
supporting the planning and promotion of events and engagement activity
monitoring basic analytics and responding to enquiries on social channels
This role is suited to someone with proven experience in marketing and communications, good writing and editing skills, and confidence using digital tools. We are looking for a creative, organised person who enjoys working with communities, can balance multiple tasks and is committed to accessibility, inclusion and environmentally sustainable ways of working.

Job Requirements

Essential:
at least two years' proven experience in marketing and communications
experience managing social media channels and creating digital content
strong written and verbal communication skills
experience of community outreach and/or volunteer recruitment
basic design skills (e.g. Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)
good organisational skills and attention to detail
commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion in communications
Desirable:
familiarity with the cultural, heritage or arts sectors
interest in using AI tools in an ethical and responsible way
