The Marketing Manager plays a key strategic role in shaping how Curious Arts shares its work, deepens engagement, and grows its audiences. We are looking for an imaginative, collaborative and detail-driven marketer who is passionate about LGBTQIA+ culture and brings creativity and strategic insight.

Job Title: Marketing Manager (0.7 FTE)

Reports to: Senior Creative Producer

Responsible for: Marketing Assistant, volunteers, interns.

Key Purpose:To have overall strategic vision for marketing, communications and audience development for the organisation, leading and overseeing the promotion of all Curious Arts activity.

Salary: £32,000 FTE (£22,500 Actual)

Benefits: £250 professional development training budget pro rata

Pension: The Company will make a contribution of 3% of your salary. You contribute 5% of your salary subject to several qualifying factors.

Hours: 24-28 hours per week (0.6 - 0.7 FTE)

Overtime: No overtime payments are made, instead we operate a TOIL policy

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days inclusive of Bank Holidays (pro rata) & 1 Day Birthday (Pro rata)

Location: Office based for a minimum of two days per week, one in Hartlepool and one in Newcastle, with some home working. Requirement to attend Curious Arts events across the UK.

Probationary Period: 3 months

Notice Period:2 months


Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications, ideally within an arts, cultural or charity setting.
  • A strong interest in LGBTQIA+ culture and events.
  • Commitment to LGBTQIA+ equality, representation and knowledge of the considerations in communicating with intersectional communities.
  • Strong understanding of audience development and creation of relevant plans and strategies.
  • Commitment to accessible practice and experience of developing inclusive marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Line management and/or mentoring experience.
  • Experience leading digital marketing across social media, websites and email platforms.
  • Experience in press and PR with a track record of reach and engagement.
  • Ability to create effective, inclusive and accessible marketing campaigns.
  • Experience managing marketing budgets and reporting to funders.
  • Excellent computer and IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CMS and CRMs.
  • Basic design skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe)

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of annual marketing strategies across all Curious Arts and Futures programmes and projects.
  • Ensure all communications reflect Curious Arts' values around inclusivity, creativity, accessibility and representation.
  • Monitor market trends, analytics, opportunities, and risks to inform organisational strategy.
  • Represent and advocate for Curious Arts at meetings and events.
  • Manage the accessible production of physical and digital assets, ensuring best practice for intersectional audiences, i.e caption use, image descriptions etc.
  • Support artist development programmes by providing marketing support and advice.
  • Develop marketing based income generation streams, eg. paid marketing support packages.
  • Lead the development of marketing and communications related policies and procedures, eg. data protection, privacy, image consent etc.
