An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at the Royal College of Music for an experienced marketing professional.

The Marketing Manager (Events) plays a crucial role in devising creative marketing campaigns for our annual season of in-person and online events. The successful candidate will have proven success in arts marketing, including building audience and engagement for both in-person and online events. You will be accustomed to the pressure of rapidly evolving situations and excited at the prospect of working in an environment of unparalleled musical riches and inspiring artistic achievement.

The role also leads on digital marketing activity, including driving our social media presence, enhancing our email strategy and supporting with the delivery of high-profile communications including our alumni publication, Upbeat.

Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Our excellence was recognised by the 2025 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the four successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings in 2024.

Interview date: Thursday 11 December 2025

Salary: Grade 8, £47,606 - £54,453 per annum, pro-rata. Appointments will normally be made to the first point of the grade.

This post is offered on a fixed-term, part-time (0.8FTE) basis and is available from February 2026.

Job Requirements

  • A relevant degree or other qualification relevant to the post
  • Proven success in arts marketing, including time spent working on promotion of classical music events
  • Experience of working on digital marketing campaigns
  • Experience of data capture, analysis and reporting to support strategic goal setting
  • Experience of managing brands, working within brand guidelines and supporting colleagues with brand activity
  • Line management experience including goal setting, appraisals and motivating staff
  • Experience writing marketing briefs
  • Experience of multimedia content production, from concept through to delivery
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • First-class copywriting and proof reading skills and a flair for design
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint

Job Responsibilities

These include:

  • Events marketing
    • Develop, implement and evaluate event marketing strategies for online and/or in-person RCM events
  • Data analysis
    • Manage and optimise the effectiveness of the RCM's concert series using data capture and analysis
  • Digital
    • Identify and project manage opportunities to develop our digital presence via multimedia content production, including of our events, student stories and news items.
  • Print
    • Oversee the editorial direction of the RCM alumni magazine, Upbeat, in collaboration with the Publications Officer and Development team
  • Emails
    • Manage accounts with Dotmailer and Spektrix
  • Social media
    • Oversee the work of the Marketing Officer across all official RCM social media accounts
  • Brand
    • Jointly manage the RCM Brand internally and externally.
