Job Summary

Join Valley Arts as our freelance Marketing Manager and help tell the story of creativity in the Chew Valley. You’ll lead social media, digital comms, print, press, artist liaison and brand development across a lively 2026 programme, including our 10th anniversary Fringe Festival.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive part-time Marketing Manager to lead all print, digital and social media activity for Valley Arts. This pivotal, hands-on role will drive audience growth, extend our reach, and strengthen the profile of our organisation across the Chew Valley and beyond.

You will shape and deliver marketing for our year-round programme and our flagship Valley Arts Fringe Festival, ensuring consistent, high-quality communication and storytelling for audiences, artists and partners.

A key element of the role is ongoing brand development-maintaining a strong, coherent visual identity, clear messaging and a distinctive tone of voice that reflects our values and amplifies our community impact.

You will report to the Creative Producer and collaborate closely with our Graphic Designer, Events Coordinator, trustees, freelance creatives, volunteers and a wide range of community partners.

This freelance role is offered at 2 days per week (15 hours), paid at ÂŁ143.50 per day. Fees are pro-rated across 48 working weeks per year, with holiday periods unpaid, reflecting the freelance nature of the contract. The schedule is flexible and can be agreed in advance to align with project timelines, campaign activity and key event periods.

Job Requirements

Proven experience in arts or digital marketing, audience development or cultural communications. Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong social media and content creation skills. Confident building relationships with artists, partners and communities. Highly organised, able to work independently and meet deadlines. Experience with MailChimp, Canva/Adobe and social media management tools. Passion for the arts and community engagement, with knowledge of the Chew Valley an advantage. Flexible approach, including occasional evening/weekend event support.

Job Responsibilities

Lead all copywriting for newsletters, campaigns, social media, website and print, maintaining a consistent tone of voice. Manage social media strategy, scheduling, content creation and audience growth. Liaise with artists to gather assets and shape effective marketing campaigns. Coordinate print and press advertising, listings and What's On submissions. Oversee production and distribution of posters, brochures and signage. Develop sponsorship opportunities and support business partnerships. Strengthen Valley Arts' brand identity and ensure clear, impactful messaging. Manage marketing plans, budgets, timelines and campaign effectiveness. Work with the core team to review content, plan campaigns, engage underrepresented audiences and reduce barriers to participation.
