Job Description

This is an open call for an emerging sound artist based in North-West England to create an original soundscape (5-10 minutes in length) for a multidisciplinary sci-fi inspired installation in collaboration with artist Alexis Maxwell as part of British Textile Biennial 2025.

The installation will explore a speculative, sci-fi material grown in a future Pendle; a textile that absorbs and echoes the memories of local communities. The soundscape will form part of an immersive environment of textiles and animation at 3B Systems, Nelson in October 2025 as part of British Textile Biennial 2025.

We are especially interested in hearing from artists who:

  • Haven't had many opportunities to share or exhibit work
  • Are excited to respond to Pendle's history and future, incorporating audio from local oral history recordings and the Pendle sound map (provided)

The fee for this commission is £800, expected to cover a minimum of 3 days of work based on In-Situ's daily rate of £263 per day.
