'Creative Movement' is funded by Sport England and delivered by Arts for Health Milton Keynes. As the Creative Movement/Fitness Facilitator, you will plan and deliver weekly gentle movement and fitness sessions for mothers experiencing symptoms of postnatal depression. Sessions will be inclusive, low-pressure, combining movement, play, and social connection. Your sessions should be engaging, inclusive and enjoyable and you will be there to lead the sessions as well as support the mothers and their babies, allowing them to feel safe, accepted, and welcome in the space. You will provide guidance and support to promote healthy lifestyle and holistic movement opportunities. Job Description
Creative Movement is a series of weekly free movement and fitness sessions for mothers (and children under 5) who are feeling low, anxious, overwhelmed or isolated. Through facilitated group movement, gentle exercise, playful activities and social time, the project aims to boost mental wellbeing, increase confidence and reduce isolation. By encouraging regular active participation in safe, inclusive and enjoyable ways, it supports women to reconnect with others and themselves while building healthier, more active lifestyles and reducing symptoms of perinatal mental health.
You will create a safe, welcoming space that supports wellbeing, confidence, and reduced isolation. The role includes responding to participants' needs with empathy, encouraging engagement at all levels, and contributing to a co-created programme through feedback, reflection, and collaboration with the Project Manager.
The mothers will be experiencing some symptoms of post-natal depression (PND) and other perinatal mental health challenges and will be encouraged to bring their babies and toddlers aged between 0-5 years to attend the sessions.
Freelance Role. Pay is £35.90 per hour - 2 hours per week for 36 sessions during term time (Mondays 9.30am-11am) Each session is 1.5 hours delivery with 30 mins to set up/pack away.Job Requirements
Be an inspirational, compassionate movement/fitness workshop leader with a passion for health and well being.
Have experience leading group movement/fitness classes.
Have experience supporting women.
You will have the ability to reflect on the experience of collecting outcome data.
Hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
Collect outcome data as required to illustrate the impact of the project. This may involve, but not be limited to, gathering monitoring information and other evaluative tools. Guidance and requirements of this will be provided.
To support demographic monitoring.
Maintaining a short project journal documenting the project delivery in your own words.
Contribute to final project evaluation where appropriate. This may include photographs, voice notes and interviews about delivery. Job Responsibilities
You will lead on the design, planning and delivery of Creative Movement sessions for mothers and their babies between the ages of 0-5 years of age.
Provide a safe, enjoyable introduction to movement and gentle exercise facilitated by a qualified instructor/facilitator.
Reduce isolation by fostering peer support networks and connections.
Encourage participants to be active and try new forms of exercise.
Inspire and motivate participants.
Participant Support
Provide a positive and trusting presence in the room and ensure mothers and babies are supported through active listening, with support from the Project Manager and volunteers.
Respond to the needs of mothers and babies in the sessions in an authentic and empathetic way.
Support participants in accessing and moving around the space.
Follow and implement safeguarding protocols in line with the Arts for Health MK safeguarding policy, where necessary, to maintain a safe and secure space. Useful Links
