Job Description
We are a friendly amateur mixed SATB choir of about 90 singers, performing four concerts a year, across classical and contemporary music, often with orchestral accompaniment.
We rehearse in central Salford on Wednesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm with a professional accompanist.
We welcome applications from enthusiastic choral conductors with proven success in directing other choirs of a similar standard/size - and from those earlier in their career who can demonstrate the potential to grow into the role.
As well as inspiring and leading the choir, the Music Director will be required to work collaboratively with the committee to develop annual programmes and to help publicise the choir, and with other professionals in the staging of concerts.
The role is offered on a self-employment basis.
Remuneration is currently £140 per 2 hour rehearsal and £520 for a concert day. There are normally 39 weekly rehearsals and four concert days (approx. 7 hours each) per year. (approx. £7,540 per annum). Fees are reviewed annually. Job Requirements
