Job Summary

The Course Leader will enable The Rhythm Studio to launch and develop its performing arts offer for young people and enhance its reputation as a leading provider of contemporary music education within London and beyond.

Hours / Salary

  • 0.6 FTE (approximately 24 hours per week)
  • Salary Range - £18,000-£20,000 for 0.6 FTE depending on skills, experience and qualifications
  • It is anticipated that the role may develop into a Full-Time position from September 2026, subject to a successful launch of the course offer in the initial 2025-26 academic year.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience of teaching students aged 16-18 years in a classroom setting.
  • Extensive subject knowledge of musical theatre, including singing, drama and dance.
  • Experience providing piano accompaniment in a musical theatre context.
  • A passionate and forward-thinking attitude to performing arts education.
  • Interest in and knowledge of a broad range of musical styles.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and build relationships with colleagues, parents, students and external partners.
  • A confident, enthusiastic, patient and approachable character.
  • A practical attitude, problem solving skills, the ability to show initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Sound IT skills, including the use of Mac OS applications, Google Classroom and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, conflict resolution and the ability to relate effectively to children, adults and all stakeholders within our community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Teaching sixth form modules in musical theatre, covering core skills in singing, drama, dance and performance skills.
  • Designing and implementing schemes of work and assignment briefs.
  • Planning appropriate class content for students and producing teaching materials.
  • Setting appropriate homework assignments for students.
  • Marking student coursework, offering regular feedback to students and giving the opportunity for resubmission in a timely manner.
  • Submitting student work for moderation and grading within the allocated timescales.
  • Internal Verification of work marked by colleagues in line with standardisation guidelines.
  • Delivering a weekly Group Tutorial covering PSHE topic alongside general student information and updates.
