The New Creatives is a free programme for young people in Peterborough who want to create exciting events and projects about the environment with professional artists. We meet weekly from October to May, working together on exciting projects that tackle local environmental issues. It's a fun, supportive space to build your skills, share ideas, and make real change through art, performance, and more. New for 2025/26, we're offering a brand new pathway for young people to get involved in New Creatives: the Young Leaders programme is for those aged 20-24 who want to learn how to lead and facilitate creative sessions. This is a paid role, 2 hours per week plus occasional events and performances, at the Living Wage (£12.60 per hour). What you'll do: Start with 4 taster sessions (Oct-Nov) exploring different artists and styles. Choose which artist/project you want to work with for the rest of the term. Collaborate on a creative response to environmental issues that matter to you. Use performing arts to build original work and share in a public performance in April/May 2026. Go on creative trips and connect with new ideas. Support weekly workshops and rehearsals. Help younger participants feel welcome and confident. Receive support and experience in creative leadership. Play a vital role in shaping the programme. You'll gain: Paid experience in youth arts and leadership. Skills in teamwork, communication, planning, and mentoring. Skills in performance, collaboration, and devising. Confidence in public speaking and creative problem solving. A platform to amplify your voice on climate and environmental justice. A stronger CV and progression support for future creative careers.
