Job Summary

We are seeking a recent graduate or emerging Choreographer/Movement Director passionate about working with a small and dedicated team to develop movement-based choreography. You will be performing and also working with 2 other performers, subject to discussion.

Job Description

We are seeking a Choreographer/Movement Director for a 20-minute movement-based piece. Currently, the show dates are scheduled for September (TBC), with one performance at the Bush Theatre (TBC) and one at Leeds Playhouse (TBC). The project aims to visually portray the delicate balance between Chinese cultural philosophy and Western identities for the stage. Therefore, we are looking for an open-minded creative with diversity and cultural awareness, who is enthusiastic about collaborating with a passionate team to achieve the best possible outcome.

This is a micro-budget production, part of a residency within a London-based theatre's emerging artist program. A flat fee of £500, equivalent to approximately 40.95 hours at the National Living Wage (£12.21 per hour).

  • Create a 20-minute piece by the agreed deadline, adaptable for both performance venues
  • Collaborate with creative director to interpret visual scripts and moodboards into choreography
  • Work effectively with costume design to create cohesive visual narratives through integrated costume, body, and movement
  • Complete blocking on schedule and communicate effectively with all collaborators
  • Attend all required meetings, workshops, rehearsals, paper tech session, technical rehearsal and showcases

  • Ensure availability during key dates: week commencing 18th August (TBC) and early September 2025 (TBC)
