Opera Holland Park are looking for an experienced Stage Manager for a new production of Così fan tutte by Mozart.

Job Description

Part of our 2026 season Cosi fan tutte directed by Cecilia Stinton and designed by Neil Irish is one of two new productions in the first half of the season. Opera Holland Park are looking for an experienced Stage Manager to lead the team for both the main cast and Young Artists cast.

Contract dates are 16 April - 16 June (including prep time and get out)

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a Stage Manager, preferably Opera Stage Management
  • Music score reading ability
  • Effective team management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Awareness of Health & Safety and First Aid principles
  • Strong communication skills; used to working with a wide range of personalities
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Flexibility to work varied hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays where necessary
  • Physically capable of working long hours and carrying and lifting items within the Health & Safety guidelines

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth running of rehearsals and performances
  • Line manage deputy stage manager, assistant stage manager and work placements.
  • Read and interpret design plans to create an accurate mark out
  • Work within the relevant Health & Safety legislation to produce risk assessments and accident reports where required
  • Work with the production team to source props, armoury and furniture as required within the assigned budget
  • Attend and contribute to weekly production meetings
  • Assist in the communication of daily rehearsal schedule changes
  • Give a detailed Health & Safety briefing to the cast on the first day on stage
  • Compile and distribute running times and update as necessary
  • Ensure the smooth running of late-night lighting sessions, including walking lights.
  • Write and distribute detailed show reports
  • Ensure that all relevant paper work is undertaken and prompt books, files and plots are correctly written up.
