Job Description

The Operations Coordinator (Visitor Experience) has a crucial role in Studio Voltaire's Operations team. Working under the guidance of the General Manager to engage a wide variety of visitors, participants and onsite studio artists, the Operations Coordinator (Visitor Experience) briefs and supervises a team of Studio Voltaire Assistants in delivery of daily operating duties, ensuring that all strands of Studio Voltaire's programming are well-communicated and accessible to all that visit, and that our building and artist-designed garden is presented at the highest standard.

This is an exciting opportunity in a vibrant and dynamic environment, the Operations Coordinator (Visitor Experience) supports the entire organisation in operational delivery of public outcomes and events. Collaborating closely with our onsite restaurant partner, Crispin, and other building stakeholders, the Operations Coordinator (Visitor Experience) contributes logistically to public programmes, internal meetings, external events and venue hires, working to ensure smooth delivery of our offers.

The Operations Coordinator (Visitor Experience) oversees the day-to-day operations of a busy Front of House and needs to be a well-organised, proactive self-starter able to communicate with clarity. Above all, they need to have the utmost enthusiasm for engaging with the visiting public and embody Studio Voltaire's values in the welcome they offer to audiences and communities, motivating those around them to do likewise.

Deadline for applications: Monday 7 July 2025, 10 am

Contract: 1 year, fixed term, opportunity to renew based on performance

Conditions of work: Part-time, 4 days per week (10:30 am - 6:30 pm) working Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and alternate Saturday and Sunday

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with a wide and diverse range of people
  • Comfortable working in a busy customer-facing role with an aptitude for responding to visitor needs or demonstrable transferable skills
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team and provide clear instruction
  • Developed organisational and administrative skills with an ability to multitask, problem solve, prioritise and plan strategically
  • Able to lift and carry furniture and equipment for events
  • A self-motivated approach to working and experience of multi-tasking, with the ability to react to changing priorities
  • A commitment to respect and care for fellow employees, and Studio Voltaire's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy
  • Good IT skills

  • Act as an example to Studio Voltaire Assistants, supervise the Front of House, ensuring every visitor receives the best possible welcome to our inclusive and accessible organisation and that Studio Voltaire Assistants are briefed with up-to-date information to share at first point of contact
  • Ensure that public spaces, communal areas shared by studio artists, the garden and building exteriors are safe, invigilated, and presented to highest standard during opening hours and that changes in condition, to the building or exhibitions, are escalated to the relevant individual
  • Provide operational, administrative and staffing support for the wider organisation under the direction of the General Manager
  • Oversee staffing and set up of the resources required for the delivery of workshops, events, meetings and hires activity including AV equipment, furniture and undertake the appropriate cleaning required
