Job Description

In this newly created role within the Organisation and Staff Development team at University of the Arts London (UAL) you will support the team in delivering the university's strategic HR priorities, such as staff engagement, wellbeing, and performance.

You will contribute to the continuous improvement and modernisation of UAL people (HR) policies and will be supported to complete research to contribute to people policy reviews and monitoring and have the opportunity to coordinate consultation activities and feedback gathering from People and Culture colleagues.

A key part of the role will involve building relationships and communicating with stakeholders across UAL as you build and develop knowledge and skills to become a people policy professional.

You will be supported to complete your Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship, as well as other relevant learning relating to people policy, and you will be required to attend regular training sessions.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be eligible to progress to the permanent position of People Policy Coordinator (Grade 3).

Job Requirements

To be eligible for this apprenticeship you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Have the right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role due to apprenticeship funding rules)
  • Have lived in the UK for the past three years or meet one of the residency requirements as found in Annex A of https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apprenticeship-funding-rules#the-latest-rules-2021-to-2022 - Apprenticeship Funding Rules
  • Must not already hold a qualification in HR or a related subject at level 3 (A level) or above
  • Not be enrolled on another funded apprenticeship or another funded further education or higher education programme at the time you start your new apprenticeship

You will need some experience in an administrative role (such as administrator, HR assistant, or similar). This could be experience from a non-professional or voluntary role.

You will also need an interest in HR policy and legislation, organisation development, staff development, or HR management and possess a good working knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Teams, Outlo
