Adventure Arts Theatre Company is seeking a female-identifying actor for the role of The Mechanic in The Wizard and The Mechanic. This vibrant, comedic two-hander show tours outdoor and non-traditional spaces and integrates community collaboration. The Mechanic is the grounded, practical counterpart to the flamboyant Wizard, ensuring the story unfolds smoothly while embracing audience participation. This role is both performance-based and community-focused. The actor will co-lead workshops with community groups, including individuals with learning disabilities, shaping aspects of the performance with them. They will also perform in both stand-alone and integrated versions of the show, assisting with setup and walkabout performances. Rehearsals run from June to August, with performances scheduled through 2025. The role offers a base fee of £5,100, with potential for additional performance days. Adventure Arts welcomes applications from the global majority and underrepresented artists and encourages performers with experience in clowning, physical theatre, improvisation, puppetry, and mask work to apply. Perform The Mechanic in touring performances across outdoor and community settings. Co-Lead engagement workshops, co-creating with community groups. Assist in production setup, including walkabout performances. Adapt performances based on community involvement in integrated versions. Attend rehearsals and R&D sessions, working closely with the creative team. Uphold accessibility and inclusivity within performances and workshops.
