Description

Job Summary

ETO seeking a Philanthropy Officer to join our busy Development team as we continue to grow our voluntary (fundraised) income to support our work on the stage, in schools and in the community.

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive, outgoing individual with excellent interpersonal skills, who enjoys building strong relationships with others. The Philanthropy Officer will have an interest in the generous people who support ETO and a zeal to increase their number. Supporters are diverse, widespread, and discerning - so the Philanthropy Officer will understand ETO's strong case for support and will be a persuasive communicator.
The role requires rigorous attention to detail and an ability to work well to deadlines. As well as offering the highest quality of supporter care from start to finish, the Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for researching potential new high value supporters and for ensuring that all data is kept up to date on our CRM system.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to enter the arts with a fundraising, customer service or customer-facing background. Whilst a knowledge and passion for opera and theatre is useful, it is certainly not essential and we welcome applications from people who have worked outside the cultural sector as well as those from within. We particularly encourage applications from disabled people and people from global
majority backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented in the cultural sector.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • A passion for, and good working knowledge of, opera
  • Experience working in a fundraising team, with a successful track record of securing donations from Individual Donors
  • Event management experience
