Job Summary

The GingerBread Agency is looking for a super-sharp, highly organised Press Assistant to support our team on the ground at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Job Description

Press Assistant - Edinburgh Festival Fringe (28 July - 24 August 2025)
£700/week - approx. 55 hours/week - Local applicants only

The GingerBread Agency is looking for a super-sharp, highly organised Press Assistant to support our team at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

We represent a brilliant range of artists and productions and are known for delivering strategic, thoughtful PR with warmth, integrity, and precision. This role is about keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes - managing press tickets, updating schedules, handling last-minute changes and logistics. It's ideal for someone looking to build experience in arts admin, comms, or events at one of the busiest festivals in the UK.

Key details:

  • Dates: 28 July - 24 August 2025

  • Pay: £700 per week (above Real Living Wage)

  • Hours: Approx. 55 per week, including weekends

  • Days off: Around six days off across the four-week period

  • Location: Must be based in Edinburgh or have confirmed accommodation

  • Perks: Venue passes provided, with access to most major venues

This is not a writing or pitching role - it's about fast-paced coordination and clear communication. You'll need to be calm under pressure, highly organised, and confident managing a busy inbox. Fringe or PR experience is a bonus, but not essential - what matters most is intelligence, tech fluency, initiative, organisational skills and a very solid work ethic.

The role would suit a recent graduate, early-career freelancer, or (potentially, for the right, incredibly organised person) a current student who is v switched-on and ready to muck in. You should have some prior work experience - it doesn't need to be in the arts, but this isn't suitable as a first-ever job.

We work hard, but we look after each other. Our team is friendly, fair, and supportive, and many of our freelancers come back - which we take as a good sign!

Job Requirements

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • Confident with email, shared calendars, and digital tools

  • Proactive, reliable, and calm under pressure

  • Previous work experience (not necessarily in PR or the arts)

  • Not suitable as a first-ever job - some admin experience is essential

  • Fringe or PR experience is a bonus, but not required

  • Must be Edinburgh-based or have confirmed accommodation

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage press ticket requests and allocations

  • Keep schedules up to date and accurate

  • Coordinate last-minute logistics and respond quickly to changes

  • Monitor a shared inbox and flag urgent press enquiries

  • Maintain a calm, clear communication style in a high-pressure environment

  • Support the team with general admin and on-the-ground coordination

  • Occasionally run errands or support at press-facing events if needed

How to Apply

Email [email protected] with a CV and short cover letter explaining why you'd be a good fit.
