62 Gladstone Street is seeking a freelance producer to lead the planning and preparation for the delivery of our 2026 tour of Refugee!, a new play in development, and Refugee Week 2025.

Job Description

62 Gladstone Street is seeking an experienced and dynamic producer to support the planning and preparation for the delivery of the 2026 tour of Refugee! and Refugee Week 2025 in Peterborough. This role focuses on strategic planning, organisational growth, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration.

The fee for this position is £3,450, and it can be delivered remotely from January 2025 - June 2025. Working hours are flexible, - at approximate 1 day/8 hours a week from January to June 2025. We will offer 2 days paid leave, - within this time frame.

The successful candidate will start immediately and remain engaged until the conclusion of Refugee Week June 2025. They will play a key role in the preparation and execution of this critical development phase, as outlined in the responsibilities below.

This position is funded by Arts Council England in partnership with Landmark Theatres and Counterpoints Arts.

Project Summary
This project involves redeveloping Refugee! alongside creating a staging manual to enable theatre companies to adapt the play to diverse venues and local cultural contexts.

Key components include:

  • Revising Refugee! for adaptability across spaces and audiences.
  • Producing a staging manual covering casting, accessibility, and sustainability.
  • Conducting workshops in London and Peterborough with local creatives and communities.
  • Offering a traineeship to a refugee artist to promote inclusion.
  • Preparing for the 2026 national tour.
  • Publishing a combined play text and staging manual as a resource for theatre makers.

This initiative serves as a model for inclusive and sustainable theatre-making, amplifying refugee voices and fostering community understanding.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the designer to produce a tour pack for venue circulation.
  • Secure six venues for the 2026 tour and support the touring bid process.
  • Work with the bid writer to ensure timely submissions.
  • Manage contracts and onboard the creative team for Refugee! R&D 2025.
  • Plan and deliver Refugee Week activities in June 2025.
  • Oversee the completion of this development phase, transitioning to the second phase in July/August 2025, which includes the touring bid and delivery of the UK tour, launching at Peterborough's Platforma Festival in October 2025.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proven experience in planning theatre tours, particularly multi-venue projects.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, budgeting, and project management within the arts.
  • Demonstrated ability to support organisational growth and sustainability.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in remote working and digital collaboration tools.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and engaging diverse communities.
  • Capability to manage stakeholder engagement across multiple venues.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Arts Council England-funded projects.
  • Experience with community engagement initiatives or Refugee Week.
  • Knowledge of sustainable theatre production and touring practices.

Fee
£3,450 for planning and preparing for the delivery of the project tour, including Refugee Week 2025 activities.
