Job Purpose:
The Producer is responsible for managing all aspects of internal and external productions and events, working in collaboration with the Artistic and Executive Directors.
The role is offered at 3 days a week (21 hours per week) going up to full time (35 hours per week) during production periods.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Productions and Events
- Manage day-to-day producing operations, ensuring high-quality production values for all Pegasus Opera Company activities.
- Collaborate with the Artistic and Executive Directors on contract negotiations with visiting artists, companies, venues, and co-producers.
- Coordinate casting with the Artistic Director, visiting directors, and casting agents, including availability checks and arranging meetings.
- Develop and oversee rehearsal, production, and performance schedules, liaising with the Press Representative as needed.
- Manage production budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Support the Artistic Director in assembling creative teams.
- Research and pre-screen freelance staff as required.
- Attend all production meetings and company events, including rehearsals, previews, and end-of-run gatherings.
- Coordinate press night invitations with the Press Representative.
- Manage house seat requests and liaise with the Box Office.
Future Planning
- Assist the Artistic and Executive Directors in developing and implementing annual and long-term project plans.
- Anticipate and manage artistic needs within budget and schedule constraints.
- Oversee talent development initiatives and community events that engage local participants with Pegasus Opera Company.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of the opera industry, including key trends, players, and productions.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with experience managing multiple productions simultaneously.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial management, including securing funding and managing expenses.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with artists, directors, designers, and other stakeholders.
- Experience in marketing and promotional activities, including strategy development and execution.
- Familiarity with legal and contractual requirements related to production.
- Creative problem-solving abilities to overcome challenges and ensure production success.
- Strong networking skills to build relationships with industry professionals, funders, and stakeholders.
- Proven leadership in managing and developing teams.
- Passion for opera and a commitment to promoting the art
