Job Summary

We are seeking a producer-project manager to ensure the success of our Arts Council funded development-year and delivery of our creative events and sharings as we work to build skills and performance value with our members and local community.

Job Description

Throughout the year we will host a series of small-scale drama sharings and open mics, this will end in December 2026 and forms Stage 1 of our 3-part strategy leading to our member led festival.

This role comprises a 36 day contract in total, at £158.77 a day for £5,715.72, to be worked regularly between January 2026 to December 2026 as agreed by the selected candidate and Artistic Director. The Producer-project manager will need to be available for the production week in early December 2026 and scheduled performances.

Standard working day is 7hours 30minutes, 9am-5:30pm. Our terms are in 12 week blocks for the Spring, Summer and Autumn terms. The chosen candidate if they prefer can work their hours across the week. The candidate must be available to work the majority of their hours during term time. Hours can be worked in both term and non-term time as agreed with the Artistic Director. The role cannot be worked fully remote, and someone local to Coventry is preferred.

Contract agreement covers:

  • General admin: mailing list updates, budget updates, venue bookings
  • Co-ordinating and booking lighting, tech, costume and prop support
  • Communicating with partner organisations and community organisations to strengthen community connection and partnership working
  • Promotion to external companies and individuals inviting them to attend performances and events and connecting with the wider cultural sector, building relationships with different organisations and community hubs/ groups
  • Bringing in additional team members and volunteers as needed, working with Artistic Director to identify need
  • Developing Member Steering Group
  • Internally ensuring the smooth running and logical consideration and communication of the project
  • Attending project planning meetings
  • Keeping team updated
  • Working within the budget alongside the Artistic Director
  • Updating the project delivery plan and developing a series of activities for the development year
  • Continued in Job Responsibilities

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone with these qualities/competencies

Essential

  • Experienced in working under pressure
  • Experience of planning and successfully delivering arts projects
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of, and ability to comply with, safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to travel for the purposes of the job and work flexible hours.
  • Commitment to Underground Lights' purpose and values including equality and social inclusion.

Desirable

  • Budget management experience
  • Marketing and promotion experience
  • Understanding of trauma informed work and safeguarding
  • Personal experience of homelessness or mental health issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working with the team to develop marketing materials and audience development plan
  • To support project report writing and grant applications
  • To promote equality of opportunity, inclusion and differentiation in all aspects of the work in order to support members' individual needs
  • To actively promote safeguarding, following all Underground Lights' policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all members and other staff and volunteers
  • To ensure that any safeguarding concerns are identified and reported in line with Underground Lights' procedures
  • To undertake such other duties of a comparable nature that may be required of the post holder.
