Foan & Fortune are seeking a Production and Touring Stage Manager for their upcoming tour of Mess!, a puppetry show for families. The tour focuses on the London, Essex and East Anglia areas across 2 weeks in April 2025, with rehearsals starting in mid-February.

The Production Touring Stage Manager will work with the Directors and Producer to prepare for and run the rehearsal period in London. They will also look after the cast and ensure the efficient running of the tour. They will attend the London rehearsals, technical rehearsals and the show launch, then take responsibility for the show on tour, including driving the van to each venue. The ideal person will be a confident stage manager, leading the get ins and get outs, including a simple relight and sound set up, and will be able to operate the show.

FEE:

This is a contracted role.

2.5 days of pre-production @ £320 9am-5pm

3 weeks of rehearsal @ £640 / week 9am-5pm

2 weeks of tour @ £700 / week (only 7 dates) 11am & 2pm show times. Hours in line with Equity guidelines.

Total fee is £3640. Accommodation, travel and per diems are also available for the period of the tour.

Job Requirements

To:

  • Attend pre-production meetings, as required, and to assist with the planning of the project.
  • Take the lead in all aspects of stage management during the rehearsal period.
  • Source any additional items and materials required for the production within the budget as agreed.
  • Provide technical support for the production during the technical rehearsals.
  • Produce a 'book' for the tour during rehearsals.
  • Support the compilation of tour paperwork such as Technical Specifications and Risk Assessments.
  • Operate sound and LX.
  • Ensure that all set, puppets, costume and props are kept in a tidy, clean and orderly manner and well maintained during the tour.
  • Drive the tour vehicle.
  • Liaise with the venue managers regarding all elements of the touring performance when on site.
  • Undertake any other appropriate duties pertaining to the running of the tour which the Artistic Director may allocate.

Job Responsibilities

  • To be an outstanding ambassador for the company at all times.
  • To be the key point of contact on tour for our partner venues.
  • To provide appropriate care and support to the company as required.
  • Support and be responsible for the cast during the tour.
  • Demonstrable ability to perform the Job Role outlined above.
  • Full UK driving licence including the ability to drive a van.
  • A secure understanding of Safeguarding and Health and Safety regulations and good practice.
  • An organised, proactive and flexible approach, with an ability to make decisions and remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience of managing at least one other team member.
  • Ability to be creative and resourceful in problem solving.
  • Good team player and people skills.
  • Honesty, integrity and good communication skills.

Desirable skills/qualities:

  • An interest in or passion for puppet theatre or work for early years.
  • London based. Please note that a relocation fee is not available.
  • First Aid trained.
