Job Summary

Quirk Theatre is seeking to hire a Production Assistant, with a focus on sustainability and sourcing, based in South West England, to work alongside the cast and creative team for YETI, performing at Exeter Phoenix in December 2026.

Job Description

We are excited to announce that on this year's project we will again be aiming towards Theatre Green Book intermediate. The Theatre Green Book is an initiative that aims to get the whole theatre industry working more sustainably, committing to sustainability targets and sharing learning. The Production Assistant will play a crucial component in capturing this data, sourcing materials, and rehoming at the end of the project.

ABOUT THE SHOW (YETI):

It's deep winter, and the townsfolk of Little Trusting are busy preparing for their favourite time of year. Twinkling lights are being hung, wintry songs are being sung and festive gifts are being… brung.

Everything is just as it should be.

Until something rather large, rather hairy, and rather smelly, moves into the nearby forest. And the townsfolk suddenly find themselves face to face with a surprising new neighbour. Now strange things are happening. Biscuits have been snaffled. Socks have gone missing. Something must be done! So a brave band of adventurers set off on a thrilling quest to find … the YETI.

Join us this festive season for a hilarious, heartwarming show for all the family, exploring friendship, courage and what it means to truly belong. Expect big laughs, even bigger feels, spectacular sets, original music and a healthy dose of Quirky silliness.

Fee:
£139 day rate, 10 days total = £1,390 fee.

Dates:
Prep & relationship-building: 2 days, July/August 2026
Pre-rehearsal sourcing: 3 days, August-October 2026
Across rehearsals: 4 days, November 2026 (approx. 1 day per week)
Rehoming & close-out: 1 day, January 2027

A standard working day is equivalent to 7.5 hours, anytime between 8am-6pm). Hours are to be worked flexibly within these parameters to suit the demands of the project and the successful candidate's availability. During the rehearsal period, two regular half-sessions per week will be fixed by mutual agreement to maintain consistent contact and progress. All hours are to be self-tracked.
