Job Summary

The Octagon Theatre are recruiting a Production Manager to work on their upcoming co-production of Private Lives directed by Tanuja Amarasuriya. Private Lives is An Octagon Theatre Bolton, Mercury Theatre & Rose Theatre co-production in association with Northern Stage.

Job Description

The role will be fulfilled on a freelance basis with the successful candidate starting immediately on the pre-production of the show. This will be fulfilled on a part-time basis according to the successful candidate's availability.

White Card Design Meeting late April W/C 28th April - In Bolton and Online

Final Design Meeting w/c 30th June - In Bolton and Online

Weekly attendance at the Octagon during the rehearsal and build period between 28th July and 22nd August

Full time attendance at the Octagon for the fit up and technical rehearsals up to Press Night between 26th August and 9th September

Attendance at transfers of the production through to opening night on all transfers and attendance at all get outs:

  • w/c 29th September - Mercury Theatre Colchester. Get Out 11th October.
  • w/c 13th October - Rose Theatre, Kingston. Get Out 25th October
  • w/c 27th October - Bristol Old Vic. Get Out Saturday 1st November
  • w/c 3rd November - Northern Stage. Get Out Saturday 8th November

Organise returns/storage/disposal as required during w/c 10th November

Fee £8,000 + Travel and accomodation

Job Requirements

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Creative Team to ensure all designs are realised to the highest standards, within budget and always ensuring excellent Health and Safety is maintained
  • To work within budgets and deadlines agreed with the Head of Production and Head of Producing & Programming
  • Organise and chair parameters, white card, final design and progress meetings
  • Have responsibility for costing and managing expenditure in all areas of the production budget, working closely with the Octagon's Head of Production, Workshop Manager, Wardrobe Manager and Technical Manager
  • Responsibility for scheduling fit-ups, tech weeks and get outs for the production, ensuing adequate levels of staffing are maintained in conjunction with the Head of Production
  • Have responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of Health and Safety are maintained on the production, producing and communicating all RAMS as required
