We are looking for two Production and Programme Assistants to support in the development and delivery of the Festival and our other initiatives.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the delivery team for the annual Norfolk & Norwich Festival. The Production and Programme Assistant roles provide an opportunity to gain valuable first-hand experience of major event delivery and support the team's Volunteers Coordinator. Assistants will typically attend site visits with Festival artists, support with travel and accommodations bookings or technical requirements and gain experience in various aspect of delivering multi-artform events as well as supporting the Production & Programme team in a variety of ways.

We are looking to recruit x2 Production and Programme Assistants. Both people will support with runner schedules, festival logistics and event management. We then hope that one person will focus more on artist liaison (booking artist travel & accommodation) and the second will focus more on technical support (event set up and sound/lighting requirements).

We anticipate that both roles will run from end of January to mid June.

It is also essential that the post holders are available for the busy weeks before during and after the Festival, which in 2026 runs from Friday 08 to Sunday 26 May. The role will involve evening and weekend working during the Festival in May and events in the run up to the Festival.

Job Requirements

It is essential that the Production and Programme Assistants have:

  • strong organisation skills and an ability to keep good accurate records.
  • experience of being proactive and using their own initiative at work.
  • experience liaising with a wide variety of people and stakeholders.
  • experience of project delivery and/or planning events. experience working as part of a team.
  • numeracy skills and an understanding of the importance of budget administration.
  • experience of managing a busy workload.
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • a proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Job Responsibilities

Duties include:

  1. Arrange artists' travel, transport, accommodation and catering in accordance with contracts, their needs and requirements and working to set budgets and compile a welcome guide for artists.
  2. Obtain quotes for Festival equipment as requested by the Head of Production and Programme and Technical Manager and update budget records regularly, including reporting on expenditure and organising cash requests and artists' per diems.
  3. Maintain existing supplier contact and develop new relationships with travel, accommodation, catering and technical suppliers, including our sponsors
  4. Support the Production and Programme and Festival Connect & Create Team in the administration and delivery of their events or projects as required.
  5. Manage the runner schedule in the lead up to and over the Festival period.
  6. Assisting the Volunteer Coordinator to plan Festival volunteer training and briefing sessions as required.
