WigLe Dance CIC are recruiting 3 exceptional professional dancers to lead WN Dance Company in an exciting new programme, supporting talented young people from across the Wigan Borough & Greater Manchester.

WigLe Dance CIC are recruiting 3 exceptional professional dancers to lead WN Dance Company in an exciting new test project.

We're re-envisioning WN Dance to provide more and better development opportunities for young people in Wigan & GM.

As part of this exciting freelance role you will:

  • Join WN Dance Company and work alongside a cast of 9 early career dancers aged 16-21 over a 12 week period
  • Choreograph a small group piece or solo in collaboration with the early career dancers to be performed at WBDF 2025
  • Be involved in a creative process with a guest choreographer and perform alongside the Early Career Dancers
  • Support guest choreographer during rehearsals
  • Offer mentoring and act as first point of call to Early Career Dancers (supporting their travel arrangements, well-being check-ins etc) Support an evaluation and feedback session at the end of the project

Total artist fee is £1650 to be paid in 2 instalments. The fee is inclusive of all of the above dates and planning time. The artist must be registered as self-employed and is responsible for their own tax responsibilities.

Job Requirements

We are looking for dancers who have;

  • At least 3 years professional experience including some performance contracts
  • Experience in working in a variety of settings and with young people
  • Existing and valid DBS certificate / own Public Liability Insurance

WN Dance Company is a training and development programme for early career dancers. We are also looking for artists who are;

  • Inspiring to young generation of dancers.
  • Excited about creative process and performance opportunities.
  • Flexible and open to working in a fast paced environment
  • Confident in working with others / leading sessions.

We welcome applications from artists from a variety of different backgrounds and styles; contemporary, commercial and other exciting genres.

Job Responsibilities

There are 10 confirmed days for this project. The below dates are confirmed & will not change, therefore the dancer must be available for all sessions.

  • Sun 9th Feb - Company Training & Workshop Day
  • W/C 17th Feb - Guest Choreographer Creation Days
  • Sun 9th Mar - Creation Day
  • Sun 16th Mar - Creation Day
  • 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd March - Dance Festival Performances (evenings only)
  • Sun 6th April - Evaluation and Feedback Session Additional work may be required e.g contacting young people to confirm rehearsals, planning time for short group pieces.
