This post plays a key role in delivering First Story's Young Writers Programme in Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the programme is delivered to standard in existing partner schools, primarily in West Yorkshire and in Humberside, enabling participants to achieve First Story's outcomes of increased confidence, creativity and writing craft. As First Story's representative in Yorkshire, the post-holder will also support First Story to increase its reach and profile as a cultural organisation in the region.

The post-holder will be required to maintain and build relationships with schools and writers to ensure that appropriate school partnerships are identified and secured; that a network of cultural and HE delivery partners are researched and appropriate relationships to extend the offer of the programme are secured. Working with the wider programme team, the post-holder will help to deliver extended activities during the year including termly competitions, the Young Writers Residential, region-specific 'Connect' events, our national Young Writers Festivals, Young Creatives progression routes, and training and support for teachers.

The post-holder will be supported by a small central team in London (primarily providing comms, fundraising and administrative support), as well as closely working with fellow programme managers working remotely in First Story's other operating regions led by our Head of Programmes in the North West.

This role is home based with travel to schools and partner organisations across Yorkshire. Evening and weekend working will occasionally be necessary, for example to attend events.
