About NHS Arts NHS Arts, formerly Paintings in Hospitals, is dedicated to improving patient experience through high-quality arts programmes. This role is central to one of the largest national placements of art in healthcare environments across England.

Job Description

The Project Delivery Coordinator will play a key role in delivering a national programme to place approximately 2,000 framed artworks from a major national art collection, along with a digital programme called RELAX Digital, in NHS hospitals across England.

The postholder will act as an ambassador for the programme, representing NHS Arts professionally and supporting Trusts to embed the collection in a way that aligns with local priorities and clinical requirements.

We are planning for three roles which will cover:
- South West & South Central England
- Midlands & East England
- North England

Greater London and the Southeast will be covered by the CW+ team.

Job profile

- A field-based role combining project delivery and logistics
- Requires daily travel and the ability to work independently across multiple locations
- Involves working within hospital and clinical environments
- May require working in the evenings and weekends for installations.

Person specification

Essential:
- Experience of managing projects across multiple sites
- Proactive, positive and self-motivated, with a 'can-do' attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Highly organised with good time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple sites, schedules and travel plans
- Knowledge of artwork installation (2D and digital works)
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Comfortable working in hospital environments
- Willing and able to travel extensively across England, including frequent overnight stays
- Prepared to work outside of core hours (some installations may need to happen at quieter times of the day)

Desirable:
- Experience of using collection management software
- Experience of working in the arts, culture or heritage sectors
- Experience of the arts within a healthcare setting
- Based outside London to support regional delivery

Job Requirements

This is a field-based role, involving visits to around 400 hospital sites to identify suitable locations for artworks, liaise with stakeholders, and install artworks. Training will be provided to ensure all installations meet with the required standards.

Travel will be extensive, with public transport used wherever possible.

Key terms and benefits

- Hours: 35 per week (normally 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday).
- Time off in lieu will be given for hours worked outside of these times.
- Travel, overnight stays, accommodation and subsistence costs will be paid.
- Pension: employer contribution of 8%.
- Holiday: 27 days per annum, plus UK bank holidays.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities and duties

- Plan and undertake site visits to NHS hospitals across England to assess and identify appropriate spaces for artwork display.
- Liaise with hospital staff, estates teams and stakeholders to coordinate artwork placement in partnership with the office-based team.
- Ensure compliance with hospital requirements, including infection control and site-specific health and safety requirements.
- Work with estates teams and the curatorial team to ensure the safe and secure installation of artworks.
- Install artworks and interpretation labels in agreed locations.
- Maintain accurate records of site visits, locations and installation plans.
- Support project planning and delivery to ensure timelines and targets are met.
- Ensure all installations comply with collection management requirements.
