Bow Arts is seeking a Project Manager: Exhibitions & Development to support exhibition planning and delivery, partnerships, and income generation through space hire and retail, working across projects including the East London Art Prize and Bow Open Show.

Salary: £28,913
Hours: 35 hours (full-time), Mon to Fri 9am-5pm
Location: On-site at Bow Arts office / Nunnery Gallery

Reports to: Director of Arts & Events

This role holds a key position in the Arts & Events department, contributing to the delivery of exhibitions and associated projects, developing partnerships, and supporting income generation through space hire and retail.

The role works across a programme of exhibitions and events, including the East London Art Prize, Visions in the Nunnery and the annual Bow Open show.

Working as part of the Arts & Events team, the role is led by the Director of Arts & Events, works alongside the Curator: Programming & Engagement, and is supported by the Gallery Assistant.

The postholder will be responsible for coordinating exhibition activity, supporting artists and partners, and contributing to audience development and evaluation, as well as commercial activity including retail and space hire.

Job Requirements

Previous experience of working on exhibitions or on projects involving artists.

Previous experience of working with the public, for example through events, exhibitions or in a retail environment.

Excellent project management and administrative skills, including meticulous organisation, with ability to prioritise and manage workload, and experience of working to deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, with good attention to detail, both in writing and creating visual assets.

An understanding of the visual arts or gallery sector, with an interest in working within the visual arts and / or with artists.

Experience of working to a budget.

Experience of collaboration, either within a team or with external partners.

A responsive and caring attitude, to support a small team through a project / event-led year schedule.

A champion of accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability.

Job Responsibilities

Exhibition administration, including installation, planning and support.

Liaising with exhibiting artists and supporting exhibition planning with the team.

Open call administration for shows and prizes.

Updating and working to project budgets and supporting exhibition touring planning.

Supporting future exhibition planning and research, and maintaining relationships with partners and collaborators.

Supporting the creation of exhibition marketing content and analysing audience and marketing data.

Exhibition space hire administration and delivery, and gallery shop management including stock sourcing, merchandising and artist liaison.

Boosting exhibition and artwork sales and supporting Nunnery Caf exhibitions.

Identifying grant and sponsorship opportunities.

Supporting events, projects, volunteers, and front of house activity, including occasional evenings and weekends (TOIL provided).
