Job Summary

Wake The Tiger are looking for a Prop Maker with good knowledge of prop-making processes, materials and methods of construction as well as an understanding of different scenic paint finishes, and who is the sort of person who is comfortable turning their hand at anything.

Role: Prop Maker

Hours: 40hrs per week (full time)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £30k per annum dependant on experience

Holidays: 23 days holiday plus bank holidays

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Good knowledge of prop making processes, materials and methods of construction
  • Competent at a wide variety of scenic methods and finishes, on both small and large scale
  • Experience of working in a busy workshop with multiple projects at the same time
  • Able to work to tight deadlines with a calm and productive approach
  • Take ownership of solo projects and meet deadlines
  • Contribute equally in collaborative projects
  • Able to stay on track with priorities and to the objectives of the brief
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Great communication skills
  • Experience using hand and power tools

Desirable

  • Trained with various machinery and tools
  • Knowledge of CAD software
  • Carpentry skills
  • Sewing skills
  • Sculpting skills
  • Knowledge of moulding and casting methods
  • Previous experience working in the attractions industry
  • Previous experience making props within the Film/TV/Theatre industry

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with a range of materials to create props and scenery of varying sizes.
  • Create scenic finishes
  • Work closely with the creative & production team alongside other departments to bring designs and ideas to life
  • Carryout ongoing maintenance throughout the park
  • Experiment with different tools, materials and methods to find solutions
  • Contribute to the workshop up-keep
  • Developing build techniques and ideas for upgrades and development.
