Job Summary

Little Angel Theatre – 65th Anniversary Heritage Project Little Angel Theatre is seeking experienced puppeteers (but new to marionette puppetry) to take part in a major new heritage project celebrating and protecting the future of marionette puppetry in the UK.

Job Description

As part of our 65th anniversary programme, we are developing a landmark new production, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, directed by Olivier Hymans, premiering at the Children's Puppet Festival in August 2026.

About the Project

This project responds to marionette puppetry being listed on the Heritage Crafts Red List of Endangered Crafts.

The programme will:

Restore Little Angel Theatre's 1961 double marionette bridge
Create a new marionette production
Establish a training pipeline for future artists
Celebrate 65 years of puppetry through events, talks, and exhibitions

What's Offered

This is a paid opportunity which will include mentorship from expert marionette practitioners, culminating in a performance within our Children's Puppet Festival.

Selected puppeteers will:

Receive specialist training in advanced marionette manipulation
Work closely with leading practitioners in a rare and endangered craft
Rehearse and perform using Little Angel Theatre's historic double marionette bridge and long stringed marionette puppets.
Contribute to the development and performance of The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Essential Requirements:

Professional puppetry experience.
Be able to demonstrate a long-term commitment to working with marionettes and developing within this artform.
Be available for all rehearsals, training and performance dates: 20 July - 30 August.
London based (or able stay in London for the duration of the project).
