Job Summary

This role will work closely with our Reading Heroes team and with the Volunteer Experience Manager to enable a smooth onboarding process for volunteers to the role of Reading Heroes volunteer.

Job Description

Hours: 10.5 hours per week (across 3 days)
Based: Calderstones Park, Liverpool, L18 3JB (Hybrid working will be considered)
Salary: £21,237.22 per annum (pro rata)
Deadline: 9am, 31st October

This role will work closely with our Reading Heroes team and with the Volunteer Experience Manager to enable a smooth onboarding process for volunteers to the role of Reading Heroes volunteer and ensure Reading Heroes volunteers have a meaningful and impactful experience at The Reader. The role will provide support to all the key functions of the volunteer onboarding journey.

  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Attention to detail and record keeping skills
  • Confident dealing with confidential information
  • Great people skills
  • Good communication skills with ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to manage variety of tasks
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of wider work of The Reader and it's social values, purpose and mission of The Reader

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and manage the CRM and SharePoint volunteer records
  • Manage all elements of the volunteer onboarding process
  • Work closely with other teams involved in the Reading Heroes work
  • Coordinate the DBS checking process
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, policy and practice that relate to volunteers
  • Experience of working with a variety of people with different needs and managing sometimes demanding and challenging situations
  • Be the first point of contact for all volunteer queries regarding getting involved with Reading Heroes
  • Communicate regularly and clearly with the volunteer during their EOI and onboarding to enable a smooth journey; provide timely updates, address queries and create a welcoming environment
  • Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to ensure that appropriate monitoring data is collected during recruitment
