Creative Basildon is a radical cultural programme for people living, working and socialising in Basildon borough. It is funded by Arts Council England via the Creative People and Places Programme (CPP). Our Community Voices programme is led by the community, for the community. In September 2025, Pitsea Voices told us that they wanted an artist to create: "a programme of workshops and activities with a recycling or upcycling theme" We want you to interpret this as creatively as you can. Pitsea Voices came up with a topic that they would like to see happen, but you should use it as a seed of imagination. Community engagement and participation sit at the heart of the programme, and you should keep this in mind when developing your application. Ideas will be pitched to Pitsea Voices who will choose their favourite proposal. This opportunity is open to individuals, collectives and organisations, from the local area or further afield. You may coordinate the project, or be an artist running the piece itself. You will need to travel to/across the Basildon Borough for programme delivery, and attend the Pitsea Voices session that runs during your programme. Commission Fee: £7,500 Timeline: Your programme of activities should run for approx. 6 days anytime between Feb - May 2026. If you have any questions or queries about the commission, please email: [email protected] For further information, please refer to the Pitsea Voices Commission Brief on our website (link below). Candidates must possess Public Liability Insurance (£5 million) and Professional Indemnity Insurance (£2 million), and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
