Job Summary

If you would enjoy selling souvenirs and gifts to visitors of a busy art gallery, and if you have experience of retail and/or customer service, we're looking for a new Retail Assistant to work in the gallery shop.

Job Description

The Retail Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Kettle's Yard's shop floor, combining excellent customer service with passion for driving sales. In addition, the Retail Assistant will provide operational and administrative support to the Retail Manager to maintain an efficient, desirable and profitable retail offer both in store and online.

The Retail Assistant will work with the Retail Manager and Retail Supervisor to plan and carry out sales activities so as to maintain and develop the Kettle's Yard retail offer in accordance with agreed sales strategy and targets. They will be expected to demonstrate a high-level of customer service and work with the wider Front of House team to provide an integrated and coherent visitor experience throughout Kettle's Yard.

Salary is £25,249 (pro rata). This role is included with the Real Living Wage top-up, ensuring that the role is paid the RLW as a minimum - currently £13.45 per hour. Part-time, 14 hours/week. Working pattern: Tuesdays 9.30am - 5.30pm and Sundays 10.30am - 5.30pm.

Job Requirements

Previous experience in a face-to-face customer service role.
Previous experience in a retail environment.
Previous experience working with EPOS system, including cash handling and electronic payments.
Confidence with IT and ability to learn new computer- based processes as required.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work successfully with minimal/no supervision.
Ability to work flexibly and positively within a team.
An interest in and knowledge of the visual arts and crafts.
Able to work weekends and evenings as required.
A commitment to inclusion, anti-racism and environmental sustainability.
Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure maintaining excellent customer service standards and an efficient and professional demeanour.
