We are looking for a talented Retail Shop Manager for our Lawrence shop in Hove.

Job Description

As a Shop Manager you will lead and inspire your team to work to the best of their abilities - to maintain a positive work environment and to achieve and exceed sales and profit targets. We are looking for someone to assist in growing the business through operational excellence and new ideas.

Founded in 1859, Lawrence has been a trusted name in the art world for over 160 years, known for its carefully curated selection of high-quality art supplies, from painting materials to specialised printmaking tools.

Job Requirements

- Previous experience in a retail store management role, including recruitment and developing teams.

- Commercially aware with strong business acumen and market awareness.

- Understands and is aware of sales and profit targets, and performance through leadership, coaching, business development and customer service.

- Creative thinker with excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Consistently quality driven with a high level of thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail.

- Driven by and committed to achieving ambitious targets, and excited by new challenges.

- A basic understanding of art materials, and knowledge of art terminology.

- Good working knowledge of Excel/Google Suite, and both Windows and/or Mac operating systems.

- Naturally reliable, friendly, and keen to do the best job, with a calm, professional, and positive manner.

Job Responsibilities

- Communicate the business and store objectives to the team to ensure everyone remains well informed of company activity, and of their required contribution to goals and targets.

- Lead the team to ensure sales targets are reached as well as maximum customer satisfaction.

- Develop a friendly and engaging customer service environment.

- Meet customer needs and resolve all customer issues.

- Manage the staff working pattern and payroll.

- Create a positive and motivating team environment and act on any employee concerns.

- Organise and distribute the work given to the team, set priorities and keep an overview of the tasks to be accomplished.

- Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, KPI's, and provide training and coaching to deliver results from your team.

- Ensure appropriate stock management procedures are followed including stock take, deliveries, loss prevention etc.

- Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security of the business.
