Fitzcarraldo Editions is looking for a sales and marketing executive to join our small team in Peckham, south-east London. Reporting to the operations director, the position will suit someone able to work as part of a small team but also willing to use their initiative, with good communication and organization skills, an aptitude for using data, an ability to work well under pressure, and good attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of sales and/or marketing experience in publishing, be enthusiastic about selling and marketing books, have an interest in digital culture and technology, and enthusiasm for the Fitzcarraldo Editions list.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities include:

  • working with the sales teams at Independent Alliance, Consortium and Zebralution to improve sales, distribution and visibility of Fitzcarraldo Editions titles internationally, in print, ebook and audiobook;
  • preparing materials for biannual sales conferences in the UK and US, including catalogues, AIs, sell sheets and videos;
  • managing the BooksOnix and Coresource accounts, uploading new titles, ensuring metadata accuracy and optimizing listings across the website and online retailers.
  • helping to expand direct-to-consumer sales globally, including seasonal and ad hoc campaigns;
  • acting as the main point of contact for booksellers and sales representatives, maintaining and developing key relationships;
  • working with the operations director to devise and implement marketing campaigns for frontlist titles;

Job Responsibilities

  • managing the Fitzcarraldo Editions social media accounts alongside the art director, planning content, scheduling posts and coordinating the creation of visual assets;
  • updating the Fitzcarraldo Editions website;
  • accompanying authors to readings and other events, and presenting and assisting at events as needed;
  • working alongside operations director to manage the US list, including liaising with Consortium contacts to maintain best practice for the North American market.

This is a full-time role paying £30,000 per annum with a three-month probationary period. The role requires a minimum of three days per week in the Peckham office, and occasional travel with authors and attendance at evening events. Benefits include:
