Job Description

About the role:
The postholder will manage the successful delivery of all aspects of major exhibitions and display projects in the British Museum's world-class exhibition programme. Working with colleagues across the Museum, the role will oversee projects from inception to closure and evaluation, in line with the Museum's Exhibition Strategy and project processes. To deploy project management methodologies and standards to effectively manage budget, programme, risk, stakeholders, and quality measures.

Job Requirements

About you:
Degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
Project management qualification, or equivalent experience.
Experience in managing complex public facing projects, involving multi-disciplined teams.
Excellent organisation and communication skills.
Ability to drive projects with multiple diverse elements.
Demonstrated experience of leading and motivating teams, managing project delivery on time and within budget.
Act as a mentor for more junior project managers, providing project management solutions through demonstration.
Proven track record of building relationships across teams and departments, and externally with other organisations.
Ability to lead, motivate, create and innovate.

Job Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility:
To develop and manage multi-disciplinary project teams to work collaboratively to deliver exhibition and display projects to budget and programme constraints, and to ensure appropriate input of relevant stakeholders internally and externally.
To develop and proactively manage project budgets, schedules, and objectives, ensuring issues and risks are appropriately monitored. To prepare schedules showing a project's critical path and key milestones.
To ensure clear project objectives are developed, and to ensure mechanisms and processes are in place to maximise the effectiveness of the project, including the organisation and budgeting of loans-in.
To contribute to the selection process of outside contractors and consultants for nominated projects, and to manage the contract to ensure successful delivery.
