Job Summary

Kenny Wax Ltd is one of the leading Production Companies operating in the West End and on Tour. The Shark is Broken is a new UK tour following a highly successful West End and Broadway run.

Job Description

Salary: £850.00 per performance week plus touring allowance & travel

Benefits: Employee Assistance Programme, First Aid Training if needed, Wellbeing and Resilience programmes, access to physiotherapy

Contract: Fixed Term 18 weeks

Show schedule: performances are 6 days per week typically Monday - Saturday

Holiday: 32 days per year pro rata

Start Date: 13th January 2025

Location: Various UK Touring venues

Rehearsals: London, 30th December 2024 - 18th January 2025

Tech/Opening Venue: Oxford, 20th January - 25th January 2025

Personal Attributes: We are looking for applicants with previous sound experience in a similar role on tour or the West End. The role requires someone who has strong leadership skills as well as technical abilities.

Job Requirements

Person Specification:

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail;

A proactive and flexible attitude;

Previous experience of UK Touring;

Previous experience of leading a team;

Extensive operational Sound experience and excellent technical skills, with particular focus on live mixing skills with a proven track record of dealing with complex radio mic shows;

The ability to work well with actors and creative team;

The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise;

Awareness of current health & safety legislation;

Strong working knowledge of UK Theatre& SOLT Equity and BECTU agreements;

Job Responsibilities

Job Description:

To assist the Production Manager and Production Sound Engineer to co-ordinate the hire and preparation of equipment and venue supplies, in tech and throughout the tour;

To take over from the Production Sound Engineer after the fit-up and before the get-out, taking particular responsibility for dealing with the system maintenance;

To take part in the load in and out of each venue;

To programme and operate the production's sound control system;

To mix the show on a nightly basis;

To lead on all Sound department system maintenance;

To uphold the high production standards set by the Sound Designer and maintain the artistic quality of the original design;

To ensure all sound equipment and areas are kept in a tidy and secure manner;

To provide technical support for all rehearsals while on tour including all understudy and cast change sessions;

To work collaboratively with all other departments, including the theatre technical team
